Power Quality Starts with TPD
At TPD, we often explain that bad power comes in many forms: over- and under-voltages, harmonics, ground currents, noise, EMI/RFI interference, and, of course, surges and transients. There is no single solution to prevent various kinds of bad power, but surge protection solves about 80% of those issues! A recent article from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) explains that voltage surges are impossible to prevent from entering or occurring inside a building, but that “the function of the surge protective device is to stop or limit the effects of less-than-perfect power quality on solid state electronic devices.”
Surge protection does not only stop surges: it is the foundation of power quality. We explain this in more detail in our TPD Power Quality Program diagram.
At TPD, we are happy to discuss power quality problems with you. For more information on how to diagnose power quality problems, read the NEMA Surge Protection Institute Article.
